Cailen M. LaBarge specializes in civil litigation, corporate transactional, and environmental law, with a focus on animal welfare issues. Ms. LaBarge graduated from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts in 2011. During law school, Ms. LaBarge held clerkships with the litigation departments of both the Humane Society of the United States (2010) and the Animal Legal Defense Fund (2010-2011), where she worked in case development and preparation of pleadings for civil animal welfare matters, with a focus on federal environmental law, administrative and regulatory law, and federal and state civil procedure and jurisdiction.
Upon graduation, she was immediately accepted as a Law Clerk under the Honorable Christopher J. Muse of the Massachusetts Superior Court, where she researched and prepared draft decisions and bench memoranda for civil filings, and drafted orders of decision on Rule 9A dispositive and discovery motions.
After her Clerkship, Ms. LaBarge was hired by a national wine producer and distributing firm, Morgan Wright Wine Cellars, as Associate General Counsel. In this capacity, she provided comprehensive counsel and legal advice to executive management teams, assisted in drafting and negotiating contracts, represented the firm during mediation, drafted intra-company agreements and internal memoranda, and was solely responsible for the entirety of the firm’s corporate and transactional needs, including consultation and maintenance of intellectual property rights with respect to the food and beverage industry.
Ms. LaBarge is currently a solo practitioner and the President of the Service Industry Division of Rante Corporation in New York, where she relocated in 2013. Before attending law school, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French studies from the University at Albany (2006).
